The plug of the SP-V-A Cupla has its own automatic shut-off valve and keeps the attached line tight down to 1.3 x 10-1 Pa when disconnected. When refrigerant circuits are evacuated and charged, an open line must neither draw in air nor lose fluid. SP-V-A Cupla carries an automatic shut-off valve in both socket and plug and stays vacuum tight down to 1.3 x 10-1 Pa even when disconnected.

  • Three standard seal materials, CR for -20 to +80 °C, HNBR for -20 to +120 °C and FKM for -20 to +180 °C.
  • HNBR resists HFC-134a, HFC-407C, HFC-410A and HFC-404A as well as PAG and ester type oils, while CR is aimed at HCFC-22 and HFC-134a.
  • Low air admixture on connection, 1.0 mL on 2SP-V, 2.4 mL on 3SP-V, 3.2 mL on 4SP-V and 10.5 mL on 6SP-V.

Both halves close on disconnection, so the line contents are retained on both sides.

Choose SP-V CUPLA Type A when the line has to be parted under vacuum or with inert gas inside: both halves carry vacuum resistant automatic shut-off valves and hold 1.3x10-1 Pa {1x10-3 mmHg} even when disconnected, whereas PCV PIPE CUPLA in the same group is valveless and leaves the line open on disconnection. Its working pressure of 3.0 to 7.5 MPa {31 to 76 kgf/cm2}, depending on body material and size, covers the 4.5 MPa {46 kgf/cm2} of that peer. Where no shut-off is required and the connection only has to pass fluid, the valveless PCV PIPE CUPLA remains the simpler choice.

Compatibility

Socket and plug must be of the same size, since different sizes cannot be connected. Connection to SP Cupla Type A is possible provided the resulting flow rate reduction is taken into account, and once coupled the fluid may flow from either the plug or the socket side.

Standards and compliance

Ends are supplied as R 1/4 to R 3/4 male threads and Rc 1/4 to Rc 3/4 female threads, maximum tightening torques run from 9 to 50 Nm on brass and from 14 to 90 Nm on stainless steel, and the seal materials are chloroprene rubber (CR), fluoro rubber (FKM) and hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR).

  • No grease is applied to the O-ring of the socket for HNBR seal material products when shipping. Be sure to apply refrigerating machine oil before use.
