A line laser only becomes flexible once it can be placed freely. Construction and survey tripods almost always carry a 5/8 inch connection, while Leica Lino line lasers sit on a 1/4 inch thread. This tripod mounting adapter closes that gap and makes the instrument tripod ready without any modification.
