When dust or a splinter gets into the eye, rinsing must start immediately. The eye wash bottle contains 250 ml of sterile, body-neutral 0.9 % sodium chloride solution and is designed for flushing out foreign bodies.

One bottle provides about 5 minutes of rinsing. For serious injuries the manufacturer recommends 15 minutes, which means three bottles in a row. Opened bottles are no longer sterile and must be discarded.
