On pipe and hose fittings, a closed ring cannot be slipped over the nut. The open ring spanner insert is guided sideways over the line, still grips the hexagon nut over a large area and tightens it to the value set on the torque wrench. The 7775 with 13 mm across flats fits Click-Torque X series torque wrenches with 9x12 mm mounting.
