Anyone spending eight hours moving between bench, stores and test area inside an EPA needs foot protection that does two things at once: dissipate the wearer charge and stay light. The FLASH 4000 ESD is a safety low shoe in protection class S1 to EN ISO 20345:2022. Its anatomically shaped alu-tec toe cap withstands the required 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression, and it is made of aluminium rather than steel. It comes in standard width 10, which ATLAS builds wide and foot-friendly from the outset.
What sets this model apart
- Controlled charge dissipation. The shoe is ESD compliant. Measured by the person-shoe-floor method of DIN EN 61340-5-1, ATLAS guarantees a resistance below 100 MOhm for its ESD footwear. The footwear standard EN ISO 20345 by contrast allows anything between 0.1 and 1,000 MOhm for antistatic shoes and contains no ESD test at all. That tightening is what decides whether a component survives the walk from bench to machine. The lower limit of 0.1 MOhm required by DGUV rule 112-191 is respected, so limited protection against dangerous body currents at work up to 230 V remains in place.
- S1 in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic construction, energy-absorbing heel region and a fuel-resistant outsole. What S1 does not include is penetration resistance. Wherever nails, swarf or wire offcuts can end up on the floor, the sister model FLASH 4005 XP in class S1P belongs in the specification.
- Light toe cap, protected tip. The anatomically shaped alu-tec toe cap passes the same test as a steel cap but shifts the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot, which helps prevent trips caused by imbalance. Aluminium is thermally neutral and creates no cold bridge into the shoe. The abrasion-resistant carbon-fibre toe bumper protects the spot that wears through first during kneeling work.
- Mesh instead of heat build-up. The high-tech mesh hugs the foot closely and its air texture keeps circulation going. Together with the moisture-regulating aktiv-X functional lining and the Klima Komfort insole this forms the clima-stream concept, which balances moisture inside the shoe. The lining does not stain and resists abrasion.
- INNOFLEX SYSTEM for long distances. The outsole guides force along the INNOFLEX LINE from heel to toe. The CLOUDZONE in the heel absorbs the impact, the large MPU tread zones return the energy into the next step and the DYNAMIC PLATES in the forefoot pass it forward. The 3D cushioning system adds a pressure-relieving insole. Anyone walking several kilometres per shift notices it by the evening.
- Standard width 10, built deliberately wide. ATLAS already cuts the standard width to a foot-friendly last, so the toe box stays free. Anyone still feeling pressure will find the same model in widths 12, 13 and 14 of the multi-width system, with identical sole, toe cap and protection class.

Areas of use
Electronics manufacturing and PCB assembly, test, measurement and repair benches, order picking and stores inside the EPA, maintenance and assembly in dry halls. As an S1 model the shoe has neither a water-repellent upper nor penetration resistance. For wet areas or outdoor work, an S2 or S3 model belongs on the shortlist.
Standards and conformity
