Packaging scraps, film and paper build up quickly in an ESD protected area and often can only be removed in bulk. An ordinary plastic bin charges up and becomes a charge source right at the workstation. This round waste bin in black conductive polypropylene removes charges once grounded and reaches a resistance to ground below 1 x 10⁶ ohms per IEC 61340-2-3. With 14 litres of capacity it fits under or beside the bench.

Standards

IEC 61340-5-1 calls for removing unnecessary insulators from the EPA and grounding conductors. The bin replaces an insulating plastic bin with a conductive, groundable item. Charge drains through contact with a grounded ESD floor or surface.
