Cornflower blue is the classic works colour for mixed production areas and works well for marking whole teams. This short-sleeve ladies' coat combines 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn at 155 g/m² and measured 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm at STFI. Sizes run from 3XS to 6XL.

Kitting out a whole department is not a question of single coats but of stock. How many sizes do I hold, how often does a garment come back from the laundry, and how do I tell across the floor who belongs to the line and who is only passing through. Cornflower blue answers the last question without extra badging.

The material stays matter of fact. 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester, 4 % conductive yarn and a fabric weight of 155 g/m² give a coat that can be worn through a shift and still holds its shape. The conductive yarn is woven in, and the surface resistance measured at STFI is 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm.

Short sleeves, notched lapel collar, concealed press-stud placket, three pockets, sweat guard at the neck. The specification is aimed at the work rather than at the catalogue photograph.

Your benefits

  • Works colour that handles dirt well: Cornflower blue sits between the extremes. Dust and light marks show less than on white, without hiding the true condition of the coat the way black does.
  • Visible assignment across the floor: One colour per area shows from ten metres away who belongs to placement and who came in from maintenance. That saves a lot of questions at the line.
  • 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm on record: Surface resistance was measured to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at STFI, at 23 °C and 25 % humidity. A figure on the data sheet beats any wording in a marketing text.
  • Concealed press-stud placket: The studs sit under the fabric flap and cannot reach housings, displays or populated assemblies when the wearer leans across the workbench.
  • Three pockets, clear division: Chest pocket on the left for pen and test probe, two side pockets with slanted openings for gloves and small parts. The ESD logo sits on the right side pocket.
  • Industrial laundry without size loss: The 48 % polyester share holds length and width across many cycles. A size M coat stays a size M, even after its fiftieth trip through the laundry.
  • Twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL: For a stock holding meant to cover a whole department, that is the decisive point. Repeat orders continue in the same cut and the same shade.

Lasting dissipation and wash resistance

The 4 % share of conductive yarn is distributed through the fabric and forms a continuous grid. Because the yarn is woven in rather than applied on top, it cannot be rubbed away. The yarn used is high-grade silver yarn processed in a method of our own, so the silver sits in the yarn itself and not as a layer on the fibre.

STFI measured a surface resistance of 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm in a test climate of 23 (±1) °C and 25 (±5) % relative humidity. For a stock holding that cycles through industrial laundry continuously, what counts above all is that conductivity is retained after repeated washing and wearing.

  • 4 % conductive yarn, woven in rather than coated
  • Silver yarn processed in a method of our own
  • 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm, test institute STFI
  • Suitable for industrial laundry

Fabric and material

The blend of 48 % cotton and 48 % polyester is a deliberate compromise. Pure cotton would feel pleasant but shrink and lose its shape in the laundry. Pure synthetic fabric would hold its dimensions but traps heat and charges more readily. Compact-spun cotton yarn adds a low tendency to shed lint.

155 g/m² is a well judged figure for a work coat. The fabric stays light enough for long production shifts and heavy enough for collar and placket to sit cleanly. Worn over a blouse or T-shirt the coat adds no noticeable bulk. Anyone moving between line and test bench all day notices that by the evening.

  • 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester, 4 % conductive yarn
  • 155 g/m² fabric weight
  • Compact-spun cotton yarn, low lint
  • Colour cornflower blue

Construction in detail

The notched lapel collar is supported by side bust darts, so the front panel stays flat and does not fold onto the bench when the wearer leans forward. The front closes with a concealed press-stud placket whose studs sit under a fabric flap, where they cannot make metal contact with an assembly.

The pockets follow real working posture. The patch chest pocket on the left takes a pen, a probe tip or a caliper, while both side pockets have slanted openings and stay easy to reach while seated. A sweat guard is worked into the neck, and the ESD logo sits on the right side pocket.

  • Notched lapel collar with side bust darts
  • Concealed press-stud placket
  • Patch chest pocket on the left
  • Two side pockets with slanted openings
  • Sweat guard at the neck
  • ESD logo on the right side pocket

Fit and size range

The coat is stocked in twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL, always in the same cut. When building a stock holding, every build can be served without bringing in a different model with a different look for the edge sizes. The oversizes from 3XL upwards stay identical in cut and shade, so repeat orders slot into the stock without a visible break.

Short sleeves suit areas where long sleeves get in the way or where it is simply warm. Anyone who needs exact measurements per size will find the size chart as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this product page. Ordering a sample coat before the bulk order saves swapping half a size run later.

Cornflower blue as a works colour

Cornflower blue has been the colour of production for decades, and for a practical reason. It is dark enough not to display dust, hand marks and light soiling immediately, and light enough that heavy contamination still registers. Across mixed areas between store, line and test bench, that is the best compromise available.

It also works as an area colour. If white stays with final inspection and black with field service, cornflower blue marks production itself. Embroidered names and department logos stand out well against this shade, in both light and dark thread. The cut is identical across all three colours of this model.

Applications

  • Placement lines and manual assembly stations
  • Stores and picking areas for semiconductors and assemblies
  • Test and repair benches alternating with line work
  • Maintenance and machine operation inside the EPA
  • Training rooms and induction of new staff

Care and service life

The coat is suitable for industrial laundry, which is the basic requirement for a stock holding on a fixed exchange cycle. The polyester share holds length and width across many cycles, and the woven-in conductive yarn keeps its conductivity. Binding care details are printed on the label inside the garment.

Finishing and custom versions

Department logos or names can be embroidered, printing is possible up to 160 °C and a sample print in advance is recommended. A press stud or pocket in a contrasting colour, additional equipment details and special colours outside the catalogue range are arranged on request. Ask us for a quotation.

Standards and testing

Dissipation and surface resistance were successfully tested to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at STFI, with a measured 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm at 23 (±1) °C and 25 (±5) % relative humidity. The coat is neither tested nor certified to further ESD standards. It works together with dissipative flooring, footwear and work surfaces.
