Anyone equipping an EPA rarely buys a single garment. They buy a stock that will be reordered for years and that should still look like one family at the end. Cornflower blue is the obvious choice for that, because the shade sits well next to existing workwear and puts neither light dust nor dark marks on immediate display.
The coat is made from 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn at 155 g/m². The compact cotton yarn is densely spun, lints very little and holds its shape. The conductive yarn is part of the weave and works where the wearer stands, in the discharge path between person and EPA.
Adjustable sleeve width, a concealed press stud placket and three pockets make it a garment for daily service rather than a showpiece.
Your benefits
- Cornflower blue forgives a lot: Mid blue shades reveal neither fine dust nor dark traces as clearly as light or deep black fabrics. The coat stays presentable longer between two laundry runs.
- Colour survives the reorder: Reactive dyed cotton locks the dye firmly into the fibre. Ordering another twenty coats in two years does not put a visibly different blue into circulation.
- Dissipation with a number: Surface resistance of 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms, determined by STFI at 25 % relative humidity. That dry test case matches what many production halls see during the heating season.
- Sleeves down to working width: Press studs at the wrist pull the sleeve in before work starts at the soldering station or inside a parts bin. Afterwards it opens back up to a comfortable width.
- Concealed press stud placket: No metal on the front that can scrape across a housing edge or a printed circuit board when the wearer leans over the workstation.
- Marking by area: Blue for production, a second colour for laboratory or visitors. The allocation is readable from ten metres away and needs no sign and no extra badge.
Construction in detail
The notched lapel collar sits flat and a concealed press stud placket closes the coat beneath it. Since no stud is exposed, nothing metallic reaches a housing, a front panel or an assembly when the wearer bends forward. A patch chest pocket sits on the left, joined by two side pockets with slanted openings that stay reachable when seated.
A sweat guard is worked into the neck, the point where a coat in daily use wears out first. Side bust darts create the ladies' fit without costing width over the hips. Sleeve width is adjusted by press studs, and the ESD logo is placed clearly visible on the right side pocket.

Material and fabric
155 g/m² made from 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn produce a fabric that behaves well across eight hours. The cotton takes up moisture, the polyester share keeps the cut in shape, and the compact yarn provides a smooth surface with little linting.
Compared with pure synthetics the fabric brings two practical advantages, a lower tendency towards static build up and towards odour. Anyone who has worked a summer shift at a soldering station knows why the second point is far from trivial in workwear.
- 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester, 4 % conductive yarn
- fabric weight 155 g/m²
- low linting compact cotton yarn
- dimensionally stable and suitable for industrial laundry
Fit and size range
Twelve sizes from 3XS to 6XL are available, so a department can be dressed completely and without makeshift solutions. Every size is made to the same specification, so buying a few more pieces later does not stand out in the existing stock. The size chart is provided as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this page.
The ladies' cut with side bust darts is calculated for movement at the bench. The coat should close without pulling across the chest and should not ride up at the back when someone reaches for a box on an upper shelf. As it is worn over the wearer's own clothing, a look at the chart pays off before a collective order.
Dissipative performance and wash resistance
STFI tested dissipative behaviour and surface resistance to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016. The result is 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms, measured at 23 (+/- 1) °C and 25 (+/- 5) % relative humidity. That figure is the reason this coat differs from any other blue work coat on the market.
The conductive yarn keeps its effect after repeated washing and wearing. We use high grade silver yarn in a process of our own, which holds the conductive share inside the weave instead of on top of it. For maintenance that means the coat can join the normal laundry cycle.
Cornflower blue on the shop floor
Cornflower blue has been a works colour for decades, and for practical reasons. The shade sits exactly between the two extremes. Light dust from the stores does not stand out as it would on black, dark handling marks do not show as they would on white, and the coats look consistent on the rail even when they come from different deliveries.
There is an organisational gain on top. Anyone splitting an EPA into zones can assign cornflower blue to production and other colours to the laboratory, to maintenance or to visitors. On request that separation can be sharpened further with contrast details at the pocket or the closure.

Applications
- placement, hand soldering and final assembly in electronics production
- stores and order picking for semiconductors and assemblies
- maintenance and workshop areas inside the EPA
- test floor and functional testing of devices and assemblies
- induction of new staff and training workstations
Care and service life
The coat is suitable for industrial laundry. The polyester share secures dimensional stability, the compact cotton yarn keeps the smooth surface, and the dissipative property remains across many wash cycles. Temperature and washing process are governed by the care label inside the coat.
Finishing and custom versions
Company logos and names can be embroidered or printed up to 160 °C, with a sample print recommended beforehand. Sleeves with conductive ribbed cuffs, a press stud pocket and a contrast version are made up on request, as are special colours outside the catalogue range. Ask us for a quotation.
Standards and testing
Dissipative behaviour and surface resistance were tested to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 at STFI, the result being 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms in a test climate of 23 (+/- 1) °C and 25 (+/- 5) % relative humidity. No testing has been carried out against further ESD standards, which serve as professional context only.
