Anyone equipping an EPA needs a garment for rework, test and goods-in that goes over private clothing and screens its charge. That is what this long sleeve coat is built for. It is pulled on, closed with the concealed press stud placket and ready, even if a field engineer or an auditor only enters the zone for an hour.
Black is the colour for the dirty corners of production. Flux residue at the soldering bench, silicone oil at the press, toner dust in printer service: on light fabric all of it shows after three shifts, on black it stays discreet. That stretches the laundry cycle and keeps the coat presentable in front of a customer.
The basis is a lint-free compact cotton yarn with a polyester share and conductive yarn woven in, at 155 gsm. The weight is chosen so the coat can be worn for a full shift without heat building up underneath.
Your benefits
- Resistance 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms: Measured by STFI at 23 degrees Celsius and only 25 percent relative humidity. That is the dry hall climate in winter, the condition under which clothing actually builds a charge.
- Concealed press stud placket: The studs sit behind a fabric flap. No metal edge scrapes across a painted housing or a populated board when the wearer leans over the bench.
- Sweat guard at the neck: An extra strip of fabric absorbs moisture before it reaches the collar seam. The collar keeps its shape well past the twentieth wash.
- Adjustable cuffs: The long sleeves close with adjustable press studs. Tight at the soldering iron so no fabric drifts into the holder, wider again for picking and packing.
- Three pockets, logo in view: Chest pocket on the left for pen and test record, two side pockets with slanted openings. The ESD logo sits on the right side pocket and is visible during an audit walk.
- 155 gsm, low lint: Light enough for eight hours over a shirt or thin pullover. The compact yarn sheds few fibres, which matters at the microscope and the placement machine.
- Twelve sizes, 3XS to 6XL: The whole shift wears the same model instead of only the mid range getting a proper cut. The smallest and the largest sizes run in exactly the same execution.
Fabric and weight
The fabric is 48 percent cotton, 48 percent polyester and 4 percent conductive yarn. The cotton is spun as compact yarn, where protruding fibre ends are bound in before twisting. The result is a smooth surface that barely lints and leaves few particles on open assemblies or optical parts.
The polyester share carries the dimensional stability. Shoulders and front edge keep their line even after frequent washing and after being put back on without ironing. At 155 gsm the coat sits in the right middle ground, heavy enough for a clean drape and light enough for a full shift in a heated production hall.
- 48% cotton as low lint compact yarn
- 48% polyester for dimensional stability and short drying times
- 4% conductive yarn as a permanent part of the weave
- 155 gsm fabric weight
- Reactive dyed, so the colour holds through frequent laundering
Construction in detail
The front closes with a concealed press stud placket. The studs sit behind a fabric cover, so no hard edge is exposed at the front. The notched lapel collar lies flat and does not stand up when worn open. A sweat guard is worked into the neck, absorbing moisture before it reaches the seam.
The pockets follow the routine of the shop floor. A patch chest pocket on the left takes a pen, a test record or a pair of gloves, and two side pockets with slanted openings stay reachable while seated. The ESD logo sits on the right side pocket, where it is recognised during an audit without anyone having to look for it.
- Notched lapel collar, lying flat
- Concealed press stud placket
- Patch chest pocket on the left
- Two side pockets with slanted openings
- Sweat guard at the neck
- Long sleeves with adjustable press studs
Lasting dissipation and wash resistance
The measured surface resistance lies between 10⁵ and 10⁷ ohms. Testing was carried out by STFI in a climate of 23 degrees Celsius plus minus 1 degree and 25 percent plus minus 5 percent relative humidity. That dryness is the unfavourable case, because only there does clothing charge up strongly. A figure achieved under those conditions also holds in daily production.
The conductive yarn is not a finish that washes off, it is part of the weave. High grade silver yarn is processed in a method developed specifically for this fabric. Conductivity is retained across many wash and wear cycles, and the coat is suitable for industrial laundering.
Fit and size range
The coat is available in twelve sizes, from 3XS through 2XS, XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL up to 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL. It is cut as an overgarment, so it sits over a shirt, a polo or a thin pullover without pulling under the arms. All twelve sizes run in the same execution, from the smallest cut to the largest.
The exact measurements per size are listed in the size chart, available as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this product page. For a first roll-out it pays to order two or three sizes as a fitting set and plan the rest from there. We also ship smaller quantities directly from stock.
Why black
Black hides exactly what electronics production produces. Flux, solder paste residue, grease from mechanical assembly and toner dust settle on every coat, but here they hardly register. For teams with customer contact, for field service and for areas where a light coat would be swapped out after two days, black is the more economical choice.

Applications
- Soldering and rework benches where flux and solder paste reach the clothing
- Repair and service positions with grease, oil and toner dust
- Test and measurement stations that require a dissipative overgarment above private clothing
- Goods-in and stores for semiconductors and assemblies
- Field service work and customer site visits
- Visitor and training areas inside an EPA
Care and service life
The coat is suitable for industrial laundering and keeps its shape while doing so. Compact yarn and polyester content stop the shoulders and front edge from distorting, and the fabric can be worn again without ironing. Conductivity of the woven-in conductive yarn is retained across many wash cycles. The binding care instructions are on the label inside the garment.
Finishing and custom versions
The coat takes print up to 160 degrees Celsius and is suitable for embroidery, with a sample print recommended beforehand. Company logos, contrast details, conductive rib cuffs on the sleeves and additional press studs or pockets are implemented on request, as are colours outside the catalogue. Ask us for a quotation.
Standards and testing
The coat has been successfully tested for dissipation and surface resistance in accordance with DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016. The test institute was STFI, and the measured range was 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms at 23 (+/- 1) degrees Celsius and 25 (+/- 5) percent relative humidity. No testing or certification to further ESD standards has taken place so far, and none is claimed here.
