Most hand soldered joints on an assembly do not call for a special profile, they call for a tip that lands where it is aimed and releases heat in a defined spot. The TSS08-B01 does that with a round pencil point of 1.0 mm diameter whose slim cone leaves the joint visible while the iron is on it.

What the geometry does

• Round pencil profile of 1.0 mm diameter transfers the same heat from any approach angle, so the tip is not tied to one working direction.
• Slim cone keeps the view of the joint clear, which raises the hit rate on densely populated boards.
• Tinned length limited to 2 mm holds the solder at the point instead of letting it creep up the shank, which cuts bridging between close pins.
• Thermocouple inside the tip lets the control loop act at the working face rather than late in the heater.
• Cartridge chip carries the stored calibration value, so the station reading is correct again after each tip change.
• Tip and heater form one direct unit, keeping the path from heating element to joint short.

Application, scope of delivery and compatibility

The default shape for mixed assemblies, leaded resistors and capacitors, pin headers, chip packages from 0603 upwards, wire links and rework on individual pads. For large ground connections the heat reserve is tight and the chisel shaped TSS08-6D is the better choice. Supplied as a single cartridge tip without an iron, for the QUELKTSS80A iron of the QUICK TS8 and TS8+ stations.
