Where brake lines, hydraulic fittings or union nuts sit in tight spaces, a closed socket will not fit. The crowfoot spanner No. 540 engages the nut from the side with its open jaw (15 mm across flats) and is driven through its 3/8 inch square drive by a ratchet, extension or torque wrench. With a height of only 6.3 mm (dimension a) it also works in narrow gaps.

Applications

Car and commercial vehicle workshops, hydraulics and pneumatics, plant and machine building: wherever fittings on lines can only be reached from the side. Combined with a torque wrench, such connections can be tightened in a controlled way. If the crowfoot is not mounted at a right angle to the lever, the effective lever length changes and the set value has to be corrected accordingly.
