Without an intermediate piece an extraction nozzle cannot be mounted directly on an aluminium extraction arm. Adapter Z makes that connection and at the same time allows the nozzle to be turned through a full 360 degrees. The capture opening can therefore be aimed at the solder joint without moving the whole arm.
