Soldering iron W 101SP Magnastat for mains voltage, 100 W, with welding mirror - Weller W 101SP

The Weller W 101SP is a mains-voltage soldering iron with 100 W power and self-regulating MAGNASTAT temperature control. The working temperature is set purely by the choice of soldering tip, so no separate control unit is needed.

How MAGNASTAT works

The system uses a permanent magnet and a ferro-magnetic temperature sensor. When the tip is cold the sensor attracts the magnet, the switch is closed and the heater is on. When the sensor reaches its Curie point, the selected tip temperature, its magnetic behaviour changes and the heater switches off. As the tip cools the control cycle starts again.
