Every disconnection of a fluid line leaves residue in the coupling and lets air into the circuit on reconnection. The Nitto Kohki Zerospill Cupla shuts off on both the socket and the plug side and keeps spillage between 0.06 and 0.55 mL per disconnection at a working pressure of up to 3.5 MPa.
- Valves in both socket and plug close automatically on disconnection. Spillage stays between 0.06 mL (ZEL-2SP) and 0.55 mL (ZEL-8SP) depending on size.
- Air admixture on connection is limited to 0.16 mL up to 1.52 mL, which keeps cooling and hydraulic circuits free of entrained air.
- Working pressure of 3.5 MPa (35 bar, 508 PSI) for water, hydraulic oil, air, gas and chemicals.
- Three seal materials cover different temperature windows: NBR from -20 to +80 degrees Celsius, FKM from -20 to +180 degrees Celsius, EPDM from -40 to +150 degrees Celsius.
- Bodies in brass or stainless steel SUS 304, in five port sizes from R 1/4 to R 1.
- The low friction valve movement and the push to connect design shorten connection time and reduce wear on the valve parts.

Operating principle
- Unique seal design reduces both liquid spillage and air ingress.
- New valve design offers smooth zero-friction movement, resulting in reduced chance of malfunction caused by deterioration of valve parts.
- Push to connect design: just push the plug into the socket for simple and secure connection, which reduces connection time and improves efficiency.
- One-hand easy operation.
- A variety of body materials and sizes have been standardized to support a wide range of applications and situations.
- Automatic shut-off valves in both socket and plug prevent fluid spill out on disconnection.
- Volume of spillage about 96 percent less compared with SP CUPLA Type A.
- Volume of air ingress about 94 percent less compared with SP CUPLA Type A.
Series comparison
| Series | Max working pressure | Size range | Valve structure | Applicable fluids |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TSP CUPLA Socket with Ball Valve | 10 bar | 1/4 inch to 1 inch | One-way shut-off | Water, Hydraulic oil, Air, Gas |
| ZEROSPILL CUPLA | 36 bar | 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, 1 inch (thread) | Two-way shut-off (Spill Reduction) | Water, Hydraulic oil, Chemicals, Air, Gas |
| TSP CUPLA | 75 bar | 1/8 inch to 2 inch (thread and hose) | Straight through | Water, Hydraulic oil, Chemicals, Air, Gas, Steam |
| SP CUPLA Type A | 75 bar | 1/8 inch to 2 inch | Two-way shut-off | Water, Hydraulic oil, Chemicals, Air, Gas, Steam |
Pick ZEROSPILL CUPLA when disconnection must not spill: it shuts off on both sides with spill reduction, and the catalogue figures put its spillage about 96 percent and its air ingress about 94 percent below SP CUPLA Type A, the two-way shut-off sibling in the same category. Its working pressure stops at 3.5 MPa {35 kgf/cm2}, so lines that go up to the 7.5 MPa {76 kgf/cm2} of TSP CUPLA or SP CUPLA Type A are outside its range. TSP CUPLA is straight through and TSP CUPLA Socket with Ball Valve shuts off on one side only at 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2}, so neither of them holds the fluid back in both halves the way this series does.

Applications
- Closed water cooling circuits on machine tools and test rigs
- Hydraulic oil lines operating at up to 3.5 MPa
- Chemical lines where drip loss at the coupling point has to be avoided
- Gas and compressed air lines with frequently exchanged consumers
- Vacuum service down to 1.3 x 10-1 Pa in the connected state
Compatibility
Once connected, fluid can flow in either direction, from the plug side or from the socket side. Sockets and plugs of different sizes cannot be connected to each other, so size always mates with matching size.
Standards and compliance
The stainless steel version is made of SUS 304 and all ports are female threads from Rc 1/4 to Rc 1.
