Anyone who spends the day walking between placement line, test bench and store notices by late afternoon how warm a closed shoe gets. The SL 465 XP blue is built as an open safety sandal and still counts as full personal protective equipment in class S1PS, with an alu-tec toe cap rated for 200 joules of impact energy and a metal-free XP penetration-resistant insert. This version runs in width 13 from the Atlas multi-width system, made for wearers who find standard width 10 too tight.

What this model delivers

• Charge drains away instead of building up. The shoe is ESD compliant and therefore part of the protection concept to DIN EN 61340-5-1. On a dissipative floor the wearer charge flows away continuously instead of building up until the hand reaches the assembly. Damage from an uncontrolled discharge rarely shows at once, it shows as an early field failure.
• S1PS in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic construction, energy absorption in the heel and penetration resistance on top. The appended S marks the non-metallic penetration resistance introduced with the EN ISO 20345:2022 edition, here the XP insert. EN ISO 20345 tests the penetration-resistant insert with a force of 1100 newtons. S1PS does not require a water-repellent upper, which is exactly what keeps the sandal light and airy.
• alu-tec cap, 200 joules without steel. The anatomically shaped aluminium toe cap withstands the 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression required by EN ISO 20345, weighs less than steel and shifts the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot. Aluminium is thermally neutral, so no cold bridge forms inside the shoe. The abrasion resistant MPU toe protector keeps the cap area in shape during kneeling work.
• Width 13 instead of a compromise. Atlas already builds standard width 10 on a generous last. Where that is not enough, widths 12, 13 and 14 cover strong feet without changing safety class, sole or features. For purchasing it stays one model for the whole department, only the width changes on the order line.
• Cushioning for an eight hour shift. The MPU INNOFLEX outsole system guides the forces along the INNOFLEX LINE from heel to toe, the CLOUDZONE in the heel absorbs the impact and the large MPU tread areas return the energy to the next step. The 3D cushioning system adds a pressure-relieving insole and a responsive MPU sole. Slip resistance SR to EN ISO 20345:2022.
• Climate inside the shoe. The SportLine fabric is air-permeable and hydrophobic, the aktiv-X functional lining regulates moisture, does not stain and dries quickly. The clima-stream concept with the Klima Komfort insole keeps the temperature inside the shoe under control. The model is marked as suitable for orthopaedic insoles to DGUV rule 112-191.

The open construction pays off in warm halls and during the summer months. Where liquids or chips can hit the shoe from above, a closed low shoe is the better choice.
