Penetration protection, low weight and an extra wide fit in one low shoe: the SL 9405 XP BOA blue 2.0 in width 12 covers exactly that gap. Under EN ISO 20345:2022 it holds class S1PS with the additional requirement SR, and the metal-free XP insert is tested with the thin 3.0 mm nail. What this model delivers on the floor

• The wearer's static charge drains in a controlled way through lining, sole and floor instead of discharging into a component. For its ESD models ATLAS states a resistance below 100 megohms, measured by the person-shoe-floor method of DIN EN 61340-5-1. The footwear standard EN ISO 20345 only requires antistatic shoes to sit between 100 kilohms and 1000 megohms, and that wide band is not enough for an EPA. In daily use the tighter figure means no assembly lost because someone walked from the test bench to the machine.
• S1PS in plain words: the S1 base with closed heel, antistatic build and 20 joules of energy absorption in the heel, extended by a non-metallic penetration resistant insert. In the 2022 edition the trailing S marks the test with the thin 3.0 mm nail, while PL would be the milder 4.5 mm variant.
• The toe cap is aluminium rather than steel. The alu-tec cap passes the same EN ISO 20345 test at 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression, weighs noticeably less and moves the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot, which makes trips caused by imbalance rarer. Aluminium behaves thermally neutral and forms no cold bridge inside the shoe.
• The penetration resistant insert contains no metal. Unlike a steel midsole the XP insert covers the entire sole area, stays flexible and does not set off a metal detector at the gate. It is tested to EN ISO 20345:2022 with the thin 3.0 mm nail, the stricter of the two permitted procedures.
• The BOA Fit System replaces lacing with a finely adjustable dial, hard-wearing lace cords and low-friction guides. A few turns and the shoe sits evenly across the instep, it can be readjusted with gloves on and it opens completely at the push of a button. Loose laces that catch in a conveyor are gone.
• This item is built in width 12, that is extra wide. Anyone already pressing at the ball of the foot in standard width 10 gains volume in the forefoot here without ordering a size up and losing heel hold in exchange. That is the most common reason bulk orders come back, and two widths on the shelf settle it. Standard width 10 of the same model runs as article 62200. Cushioning for eight hours on your feet. The MPU INNOFLEX outsole guides the force along the INNOFLEX LINE from heel to toe, and the MPU REBOUND SYSTEM takes the energy up in large tread areas and returns it into the next step. Behind it works the aktiv-X functional lining, which moves moisture away, does not stain and stays abrasion resistant.

Assembly and maintenance with a penetration risk, plant construction, goods receiving and order picking, plus electronics production and test benches inside the EPA. The textile upper is meant for dry indoor areas, and for permanently wet areas an S3S leather build is the better choice.

EN ISO 20345:2022, protection class S1PS with the additional requirement SR. The 2022 edition replaced the former markings SRA, SRB and SRC. Slip resistance on tile with detergent has become a basic requirement, and SR denotes the additionally passed test on tile with glycerine. The penetration resistant insert is non-metallic and tested with the thin 3.0 mm nail, which corresponds to the marking PS. ESD compliant in the sense of DIN EN 61340-5-1, the standard for the electrostatic protected area, with a resistance below 100 megohms by the person-shoe-floor method. Personal protective equipment of risk category II under Regulation (EU) 2016/425, CE marked, the EU declaration of conformity is available from the manufacturer. Approved for orthopaedic insoles under DGUV rule 112-191, where the marking inside the shoe is what counts. The manufacturer is the ATLAS shoe factory in Dortmund.
