ESD Women's Work Trousers Navy, 170 g/m² Cotton Blend, Conductive Yarn - A1-ESD

A field service engineer works in three environments in one day. The company test floor in the morning, a customer EPA at lunchtime, a meeting room in the afternoon. Clothing has to work in all three, dissipate charge and still be recognisable as company issue.

Navy solves that without giving way in either direction. The deep blue reads as more restrained than black and far less like leisure wear, so the trousers are taken as workwear even without a printed logo. At the same time the shade absorbs grease marks and flux residue that would stand out on a light fabric.

Underneath sits a cloth of 170 g/m² made from 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn. STFI put the surface resistance at 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms.

• Recognisable as workwear: Plenty of people wear black trousers privately. Navy in the works version with an ESD logo leaves no doubt at a customer site that work here follows a dissipation concept.
• Dark shade for grease and flux: Oil from machine service, flux from touch-up soldering, toner from the printer room. On navy those traces stay quiet instead of defining the look from lunchtime on.
• 170 g/m² for travel and field work: The fabric is lighter than classic work drill. In the car, on a ladder and kneeling at a control cabinet that difference adds up over a day.
• Waistband without a belt buckle: Side elastic holds the trousers without a belt. Working close to painted enclosures and machine panels, the metal part that scratches them is simply absent.
• Two pockets within reach: For a badge, cable ties or gloves. Because the pockets sit in the side seam, nothing catches when the wearer squeezes between a machine and a wall.
• Measured by STFI: 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016, measured at 23 °C and 25 % humidity. A documented test that can be produced during a customer audit.
• Service life in the laundry loop: The trousers suit industrial laundering and the conductive yarn stays conductive over many cycles. Replacement after a fixed number of cycles is therefore not part of the plan.

Material and fabric

The cloth consists of 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn and weighs 170 g/m². The cotton is compact yarn, where the fibres are condensed before twisting. The result is a smoother surface with fewer protruding fibre ends, which means less lint on assemblies and optics.

The polyester share provides the dimensional stability trousers need in daily use. Waistband height and leg length are retained even when the garment goes into commercial laundering frequently. The cotton in turn handles moisture uptake and stops the fabric from feeling cold and slick against the skin.

Lasting dissipation and wash resistance

With ESD clothing the decisive point is not the condition when new but the condition after a year. Because the 4 % conductive yarn is woven in rather than applied, the dissipative effect cannot be washed away. High-grade silver yarn is used in a dedicated spinning and twisting process.

STFI measured the surface resistance at 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms, inside the dissipative window of DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016. For the operator that means charge is led away before it reaches the order of magnitude at which around 100 volts can already cause permanent damage to sensitive semiconductor structures.

Construction in detail

The waistband is cut for comfort and backed with elastic at the sides. It keeps the trousers in place when the wearer kneels under a machine or climbs a step ladder, and it does that without a belt. At the front, a slit fly zip closes under the placket so the front stays flat against the body.

Two slash pockets take the small items of a working day. The ESD logo is worked in and makes the garment's role in the protective equipment visible, which counts most on external assignments. Entering a customer EPA, the wearer shows without explanation that her own clothing is part of the concept.

Fit and size range

Available dress sizes are 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 and 54. Sizes outside this band are arranged on request. A service team can therefore be equipped completely without falling back on special production for individual people. A sample garment beforehand keeps the quantities per size on the safe side.

The size chart is filed as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this product page and assigns measurements to every dress size. For distributed teams that are rarely on site at the same time, that is the more practical route than a joint fitting session that would first have to be scheduled.

Navy in the field

Navy is the restrained option among the dark shades. It looks tidier than black once dust and lint are involved, because on deep black every light particle shows as a dot. At the same time the shade stays dark enough not to emphasise working marks. In mixed teams navy often serves as the base colour while functions and areas are distinguished by the colour of the tops.

Care and service life

The trousers are suitable for industrial laundering and therefore also for a loop run by an external service provider. The polyester share keeps waistband, seams and leg length in shape over many passes, and the woven-in conductive yarn stays conductive after repeated washing and wearing. The sewn-in care label is binding.

Finishing and custom versions

The fabric can be printed up to 160 °C and is suitable for embroidery, a sample print beforehand is recommended. Available on request are a cargo pocket with phone pocket, a double rule pocket and contrast versions, plus special colours and special equipment to your specification. Ask us for a quotation.

Standards and testing

Dissipation and surface resistance were tested to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 by STFI, with 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms measured at 23 °C (+/- 1) and 25 % (+/- 5) humidity. Further ESD standards form the wider frame only. No testing or certification against them has been carried out.
