As soon as several departments draw from one stock, colour turns into a logistics question. Dressing production, test floor, stores and service separately means managing four stocks and still running short in some size. A neutral base colour for the trousers removes that, because it works under any top.
Grey is that base colour. It sits well with white coats at visual inspection and just as well with cornflower blue or red shirts used to mark teams, functions or visitors. The identification happens above the waist and the trousers stay the same for everyone.
In technical terms the garment brings 170 g/m² of fabric made from 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn. STFI determined the surface resistance as 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms.
Your benefits
- Neutral to every area colour: Grey clashes with no top. Identification by shirt or coat colour stays available without buying a separate trouser colour for each department.
- One stock for several areas: Carrying a single trouser colour means less reserve in each size. Across eleven dress sizes that saves a whole shelf level in the store and shortens repeat ordering.
- Between light and dark: On grey, pale dust and dark smears both stay restrained. In stores and order picking, where the two arrive together, that is the practical middle path.
- 170 g/m² of light blend fabric: Lighter than classic drill and still built for industrial laundering. Over eight hours of sitting, standing and walking, every gram less is noticeable.
- Waistband that gives when bending: The band adapts when the wearer bends to the lowest shelf. No belt also means no buckle scraping along mobile pedestals and enclosure edges.
- Two slash pockets in the side seam: Scanner, gloves or badge disappear into them without changing the profile. In narrow rack aisles nothing catches on edges and handles.
- Dissipation figure from STFI: The figure comes from the test to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 and sits in the dissipative range, where charge drains under control without a high-energy discharge.
Material and fabric
The fabric is made of 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester and 4 % conductive yarn with a weight of 170 g/m². The cotton is compact yarn, where the fibres are gathered before twisting. That makes the yarn more even and leaves fewer fibre ends standing, which shows up as less lint on assemblies.
The equal polyester share answers the load of the laundry cycle. It keeps waistband, seams and leg length to size while the cotton provides moisture uptake and a comfortable feel. Compact cotton is also less prone to static charging and odour build-up than synthetic fabrics.
- 48 % cotton, 48 % polyester, 4 % conductive yarn
- Fabric weight 170 g/m²
- Even compact yarn with little lint
- Conductive yarn across the whole cloth
Fit and size range
The trousers run in continental dress sizes and are available in 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 and 54. Eleven sizes in one colour cover a mixed workforce. Sizes outside this band are arranged on request. A short fitting on two borderline cases is usually enough to fix the quantities per size.
The size chart is available as a PDF in the Downloads tab of this product page. It gives the measurements belonging to each dress size and is the basis for a first order, where the split of quantities across the sizes decides how available the stock will be later on.
Construction in detail
The waistband is made for comfort and backed with elastic at the sides, so it takes up movement and settles back afterwards. The front closes with a slit fly zip under the placket. Together that gives a front without exposed metal parts that could mark painted surfaces at a workstation.
Two slash pockets sit in the side seam and stay flat. The ESD logo is worked in rather than ironed on, so it stays legible after many wash cycles. During a walkthrough it is immediately clear which legwear belongs to the issued equipment and which was brought in privately.
- Comfort waistband with side elastic
- Slit fly zip under the placket

- Integrated ESD logo
Lasting dissipation and wash resistance
Dissipation comes from the woven-in conductive yarn and not from a finish that wears down over time. High-grade silver yarn is used in a dedicated spinning and twisting process. The conductive yarn keeps its conductivity after repeated washing and wearing.
STFI measured 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms at 23 °C (+/- 1) and 25 % (+/- 5) humidity, which places the trousers in the dissipative range of DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016. Together with dissipative flooring, footwear and work surfaces they close the chain of personnel grounding instead of breaking it at the leg.
Grey as a neutral base
Grey is the colour that forces no statement. It suits cleanroom-adjacent white as much as cornflower blue workwear and leaves room for an identification scheme built on the tops. In practice grey also sits in the middle on soiling, neither as sensitive as white nor as prone to showing pale dust as deep black. For areas with metal swarf and cardboard dust that is the pragmatic choice.

- Test and measuring stations with changing staff
- Packing and dispatch of ESD sensitive assemblies
- Areas that colour-code functions through the tops
Care and service life
The trousers are suitable for industrial laundering and therefore for a shared stock across several departments. The polyester share keeps waistband, seams and leg length to size over many passes, and the woven-in conductive yarn stays conductive across numerous wash and wear cycles. The sewn-in care label governs processing.
Finishing and custom versions
Decoration is done by embroidery or print, the fabric takes print up to 160 °C and a sample print beforehand is recommended. A cargo pocket with phone pocket, a double rule pocket and contrast versions are supplied on request, as are special colours and special equipment. Ask us for a quotation.
Standards and testing
Dissipation and surface resistance were tested to DIN EN 61340-5-1:2016 by STFI, with a result of 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms at 23 °C (+/- 1) and 25 % (+/- 5) humidity. No testing or certification against further ESD standards has been carried out.
