Hydraulic lines that are opened and closed at power units, clamping fixtures or test rigs need a connection that takes pressure impulses and stays dry on release. HSP Cupla works from 14.0 to 20.6 MPa in port sizes 1/4 inch to 2 inch and shuts off in socket and plug at the same time.
- Working pressure up to 20.6 MPa in sizes 1/4 inch to 1 inch, 18.0 MPa in 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 inch and 14.0 MPa in 2 inch, which covers the range of common hydraulic power units.
- Quenched special steel body with nickel plating, built to take vibration, impact and pressure impulses.
- Automatic shut-off valves in both socket and plug keep the hydraulic oil in the line on disconnection and keep the workplace clean.
- Male thread versions deliver 5 to 10 percent more flow than a female thread version with a commercial conversion nipple and are shorter overall because they mount directly on the power unit.
- NBR as the standard seal for -20 °C to +80 °C, FKM available on request for -20 °C to +180 °C.
- Once coupled, fluid may flow in either direction, and the low pressure loss suits hydraulic oil of 32 x 10-6 m2/s viscosity.

Operating principle
- Special steel body is tough against vibration and impact. Male and female thread end configurations are available.
- Low pressure loss characteristic suits hydraulic equipment applications.
- Quenched special steel body. Powerful impact resistance, especially against impulses.
- Automatic shut-off valves in both socket and plug prevent fluid spill out on disconnection.
- In addition to conventional female thread type, male thread types (male tapered thread, male parallel thread with 30 deg flare, and male parallel thread with 30 deg cone-seat) are available. Male thread types are designed especially for direct connection to hydraulic power units effectively.
- Male parallel thread type complies with both metal seal and O-ring seal. (In case of O-ring seal, O-rings available in the market can be used.)
- Optional HSP-DC CUPLA series are available for die-casting machine applications with severe pressure variation. (See page 158 of HSP-DC CUPLA for details.)
- The overall length of male thread type is shorter than that of female thread type plus conversion nipple available in the market.

Choose HSP CUPLA when hydraulic oil has to be coupled from 1/4 inch to 2 inch within 14.0 to 20.6 MPa {142 to 210 kgf/cm2} and the coupling is to go straight onto a hydraulic power unit, since this series adds male tapered and male parallel thread ends (30 deg flare and 30 deg cone-seat) to the conventional female thread. For circuits above that band the two-way shut-off sibling series are rated higher: 280 CUPLA at 27.5 to 31.5 MPa {281 to 321 kgf/cm2}, 350 CUPLA at 34.5 MPa {352 kgf/cm2}, 450B CUPLA at 44.1 MPa {450 kgf/cm2} and 700R CUPLA at 68.6 MPa {700 kgf/cm2}. Note that HSP CUPLA has no interchangeability with 210 CUPLA, 280 CUPLA or 450B CUPLA, so an installed base on those series does not carry over.

Compatibility
4HSP connects with 6HSP and 10HSP with 12HSP. Other combinations of different sizes are not connectable. There is no interchangeability between HSP Cupla and 210 Cupla or 280 Cupla, even where sizes look similar.
Standards and compliance
The counterpart of the GP version is a female parallel thread to JIS B 8363 with 30 degree cone-seat, the counterpart of the GS version is a female parallel thread to JIS B 8363 with 30 degree flare, and parallel thread versions accept both metal seal and commercial O-rings in sizes P-11 to P-24.

- Precautions for use: There is no interchangeability between HSP CUPLA and 210 CUPLA, 280 CUPLA or 450B CUPLA. Do not connect to each other even if sizes are similar.
