HSP Cupla
High-Pressure up to 700 Bar
The Nitto Kohki HSP Cupla is a high-pressure quick coupling in steel with NBR seal for operating pressures up to 700 bar. With 58 items, the programme covers plugs (HP types) and sockets (HS types) in nominal sizes 2, 3, 4, 6, 66, 8, 10, 12, and 16. Back-pressure variants (R types such as 2HP-R) are also available for applications with elevated counter-pressure. The HSP Cupla is part of Nitto Kohki's core high-pressure series.
The wide nominal-size range and steel/NBR material combination make the HSP Cupla a versatile connection solution for hydraulic and high-pressure pneumatic applications up to 700 bar.

Typical applications: Hydraulic test benches and high-pressure test systems up to 700 bar, high-pressure water-jet systems, hydraulic press systems, deep-sea instrumentation and offshore hydraulics, and all industrial applications requiring line changes under high pressure without prior depressurisation.

Operating principle
- Special steel body is tough against vibration and impact. Male and female thread end configurations are available.
- Low pressure loss characteristic suits hydraulic equipment applications.
- Quenched special steel body. Powerful impact resistance, especially against impulses.
- Automatic shut-off valves in both socket and plug prevent fluid spill out on disconnection.
- In addition to conventional female thread type, male thread types (male tapered thread, male parallel thread with 30 deg flare, and male parallel thread with 30 deg cone-seat) are available. Male thread types are designed especially for direct connection to hydraulic power units effectively.
- Male parallel thread type complies with both metal seal and O-ring seal. (In case of O-ring seal, O-rings available in the market can be used.)
- Optional HSP-DC CUPLA series are available for die-casting machine applications with severe pressure variation. (See page 158 of HSP-DC CUPLA for details.)
- The overall length of male thread type is shorter than that of female thread type plus conversion nipple available in the market.

Choose HSP CUPLA when hydraulic oil has to be coupled from 1/4 inch to 2 inch within 14.0 to 20.6 MPa {142 to 210 kgf/cm2} and the coupling is to go straight onto a hydraulic power unit, since this series adds male tapered and male parallel thread ends (30 deg flare and 30 deg cone-seat) to the conventional female thread. For circuits above that band the two-way shut-off sibling series are rated higher: 280 CUPLA at 27.5 to 31.5 MPa {281 to 321 kgf/cm2}, 350 CUPLA at 34.5 MPa {352 kgf/cm2}, 450B CUPLA at 44.1 MPa {450 kgf/cm2} and 700R CUPLA at 68.6 MPa {700 kgf/cm2}. Note that HSP CUPLA has no interchangeability with 210 CUPLA, 280 CUPLA or 450B CUPLA, so an installed base on those series does not carry over.

Interchangeability and size groups
4HSP with 6HSP or 10HSP with 12HSP can be connected with each other. Other combinations of different sizes are not connectable. There is no interchangeability between HSP CUPLA and 210 CUPLA, 280 CUPLA or 450B CUPLA.
