Festo standard-based cylinders are pneumatic cylinders whose external dimensions, connection threads, and mounting points conform to an international standard, enabling manufacturer interchange without design modifications. The range covers three ISO standards: round cylinders to ISO 6432 (miniature range), norm cylinders to ISO 15552 (standard size, profile construction), and compact cylinders to ISO 21287 (compact installation length). Each norm series is available in multiple bore sizes and stroke increments.

The key advantage of standard-based cylinders is manufacturer independence: systems can be maintained with ISO-compliant cylinders from other suppliers without modifying the installation situation. In project planning, standardization reduces the selection effort since mounting dimensions, thread positions, and connection dimensions are predefined. Festo offers norm-based series with extended options such as adjustable end-position cushioning, magnetic pistons for position sensors, and stainless versions for special environmental conditions.
