Approaching a board steeply with a straight tip means the iron body hides the very pad it has to hit. The TSS08-J01 answers with a 30 degree bend, the 0.2 mm needle points at the joint while the iron sits flatter in the hand.

What the geometry does

• 30 degree bend gives a flatter working angle and a clear view of pad and component lead.
• Needle point of 0.2 mm places the heat on one pad rather than on its neighbours.
• Short cone behind the needle keeps the mass close to the crown and buffers the heat draw on contact.
• Tinned length of 2 mm keeps the solder in the point zone, which limits the volume applied per joint.
• Thermocouple in the tip lets the loop react at the working face instead of late in the heater.
• Chip with the stored calibration value returns the same displayed temperature after every tip change.

Application, scope of delivery and compatibility

Intended for rework under a microscope where a straight iron blocks the line of sight, for joints close to taller components and for work on assemblies clamped flat. The angled shape also helps when tacking jumper wire, because the needle can be guided along the trace. Supplied as a single cartridge tip without an iron, for the QUELKTSS80A iron of the QUICK TS8 and TS8+ stations.
