High mass joints such as cable lugs, heavy stranded wire or ground planes pull heat away faster than a fine tip can replace it. This cartridge answers with a 4.0 mm chisel face of 4.0 mm chisel thickness, a nearly square cross section that stores heat rather than only passing it on, and it works in the 300 W class of the TSS10 range.

What the geometry does

• The 4.0 mm contact width spreads heat across a solder tag, lug or pad instead of touching a single point.
• At 4.0 mm the chisel carries far more material than the 1.0 to 1.2 mm chisels usual in this range, so the temperature dip on contact stays smaller.
• The 300 W version supplies the recovery power for workpieces with high heat demand.
• Tip and heater form one unit in the TSS10 range, on the Quick TS10 roughly 3 seconds to 300 °C are possible, reference figure measured on the 1.6 mm tip.
• The thermocouple sits inside the tip, so control happens where the soldering happens.
• The built in chip stores the calibration value of that individual cartridge, keeping the station reading comparable after a tip change.

Applications

Intended for cable lugs, heavy strands, solder tags, connector contacts, larger pads, wide tracks and ground planes in workshop, service, assembly and rework. On small SMD pads the narrower chisels or the bevel shapes of the range give more control.

Scope of delivery and compatibility

Supplied as one cartridge soldering tip for the Quick TS10. Other TSS10 cartridges can be swapped on the same handpiece, the version is RoHS compliant.
