Large pads, ground pours and heavy plug contacts pull away so much heat that a 2.4 mm tip collapses on contact and leaves a dull joint. This cartridge answers with a 5.0 mm working width and a chisel thickness of 1.7 mm, the largest cross section among the straight TSS10 chisels.

What the bigger cross section buys

• 5.0 mm of width spreads heat across the whole joint even when pad and terminal carry different amounts of mass.
• The 1.7 mm chisel thickness is the reservoir the tip draws on the moment it touches down, before the control loop catches up.
• 200 W class, so the power following the tip matches the larger cross section rather than becoming the bottleneck.
• Tip and heater form one cartridge with no plug joint in between. Quick quotes roughly 3 seconds from room temperature to 300 °C for the range, measured on the 1.6 mm tip.
• The thermocouple measures inside the tip, so the station regulates the loaded working face and not the heater body.
• A chip carrying the individual calibration value keeps the temperature reading comparable across tip changes.

Application, scope of delivery and compatibility

Suited to large pads, ground connections, heavy plug contacts, thick stranded wire, solder lugs and through-hole leads with high heat demand in service, assembly, repair and rework. On small grid pads the 5.0 mm face covers too much of the surroundings, where the 4.2 mm TSS10C-4.2D-01 or a conical cartridge fits better. The tip ships as a single cartridge and fits the Quick TS10 station only.
