When a nut sits where neither a ring spanner nor a socket can be applied axially, the Crowring spanner No. 440 does the job: it is slipped onto the nut (27 mm across flats) from the side and driven through its 3/8 inch square drive by a ratchet, extension or torque wrench. The closed ring transmits force on all flanks, with a height of 21.4 mm (dimension a).

Applications

Car and commercial vehicle workshops, machine and plant building, maintenance: wherever bolted joints can only be reached from the side. Combined with a torque wrench, such joints can be tightened in a controlled way. If the Crowring spanner is not mounted at a right angle to the lever, the effective lever length changes and the set value has to be corrected accordingly.
