Particulate filters retain fume aerosols but do nothing about odours and gaseous pollutants. That is the job of the A14 adsorption filter cassette with its 14 kg bed of activated carbon. It sits in the upper filter position of the 400 series and is a storage filter, replaced complete once saturated.
Benefits
- 14 kg of activated carbon in a finished cassette, no loose media to handle at the change
- Binds gases, vapours and odours downstream of the particulate stage
- Two cassettes form the A28 main filter module of the ACD 400 with 28 kg of carbon in total
- Filter design matched to the nominal volume flow of the units, so contact time is long enough for good adsorption
- One spare part covering three device lines: ACD 400, LAS 400 and LRA 400
- Low contamination change through the removable front panel

How it works
Gaseous and vaporous air contaminants are separated by adsorption, that is by attachment of the substances to the surface of the activated carbon. As a rule the adsorbed substance undergoes no chemical change. For gas mixtures where activated carbon is not a suitable adsorbent, ULT offers cassettes filled with a chemisorption medium instead.
Applications
Routine filter changes on 400 series units. In the ACD 400 during bonding, pretreatment, painting, printing, cleaning, laminating and casting, in the LAS 400 downstream of laser fume filtration and in the LRA 400 downstream of the H13 particulate filter during hand and robot soldering.
Compatibility and scope of delivery
Supplied as one A14 adsorption filter cassette. The ACD 400 takes two cassettes per unit, where it forms the adsorption filter set together with the cassette in the lower position (02.1.044). The LAS 400 uses one or two cassettes depending on the filter build-up, the LRA 400 uses one. Prefilters and filter mats are ordered separately and changed more frequently.
