Inside the SFR-B feeder the solder wire runs between the drive wheel and a support wheel. This wheel is sized for wire of 0.5 to 0.6 mm and holds it against the drive without play, so the dispensed length stays identical across a whole shift. It is a wear part and gets replaced as soon as the feed starts slipping.

A selective soldering process is only as accurate as the amount of solder that actually arrives. Once thin wire starts slipping in the feeder, the solder volume per joint drifts away. This support wheel presses wire of 0.5 to 0.6 mm against the drive wheel of the SFR-B and restores the original grip.
