Not every assembly fits the finest pitch a slotted wall offers. Wider boards, tall components or mounted heat sinks need every second or third slot. The slot blocker closes off the slots that are meant to stay empty, so the same pitch is kept at every workstation and nobody forces an assembly between two walls that are too close together.

Applications

The slot blocker comes into play whenever an RS 100 rack is set up for a different assembly, for instance when moving from narrow control boards to power assemblies with heat sinks, or for test items buffered with an adapter still plugged in. Inside the EPA the fixed pitch keeps the boards from tipping during transport and from brushing the neighbouring board when someone reaches into the rack.
