Anyone moving between electronics production, yard and building site needs grip and penetration resistance without carrying extra weight on the foot. The XR 485 XP brown ESD solves that through material choice. An aluminium toe cap instead of steel, aramid fabric instead of a steel midsole, and the XR outsole of nitrile rubber direct moulded onto an MPU midsole.

What this model delivers

• Penetration resistance with no metal in the sole. XP technology uses a high tech textile containing aramid fibres. It protects against nails and splinters, is metal free, clearly lighter than a steel midsole and allows the natural torsion of the foot instead of stiffening the sole.
• alu-tec cap, 200 joules at lower weight. The anatomically shaped aluminium toe cap passes the EN ISO 20345:2012 test at 200 joules impact energy and 15 kN compression. It shifts the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot and, unlike steel, forms no cold bridge into the shoe.
• XR outsole for changing ground. Nitrile outsole and MPU midsole are joined in a direct moulding process. The nitrile tread delivers grip and abrasion resistance and reaches slip resistance SRC, while the MPU midsole handles cushioning and stability.
• S3 translated. Antistatic construction, closed and energy absorbing heel area, water repellent upper, penetration resistance and a cleated outsole. That clears the shoe for indoor and outdoor use alike.
• An ESD path to the floor. The ESD equipment drains the wearer's charge continuously through the dissipative floor. That is the condition for using the shoe in a protected area to DIN EN 61340-5-1, because EN ISO 20345 on its own only covers the antistatic range.
• OILED nubuck leather and toe overcap. The full grain cowhide of around 2 mm is specially treated, which makes it water resistant, breathable and soft on the foot. The MPU overcap protects the toe area against abrasion. Added to that are the aktiv-X functional lining, the 3D cushioning system and approval to DGUV Rule 112-191.
