Inside an EPA the damage rarely comes from a falling object. It comes from the charge a worker carries across the floor. The CHASE LOW drains that charge through the sole and keeps the person, shoe and floor system below the 100 megohm limit that DIN EN 61340-5-1 sets. At the same time it is a full safety shoe of class S1PS to EN ISO 20345:2022, built entirely without metal.
What sets this model apart
- Charge leaves instead of building up. The shoe is ESD compliant and conducts the wearer static charge to earth in a controlled way. That is what an EPA to DIN EN 61340-5-1 relies on, because the resistance of person, shoe and floor has to stay below 100 megohms. No component fails because somebody walked from the bench to the test station.
- S1PS translated. S1 means a closed heel area, an antistatic build, an energy absorbing heel and a fuel oil resistant sole. The PS suffix adds non-metallic penetration protection, which the 2022 edition tests with a nail of 3.0 mm diameter and 1100 newtons. What S1PS does not cover is water repellency of the upper, for that a class S2 or S3 model is the right choice.
- Fibreglass instead of steel. The cap passes the same test as a steel one, 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression to EN ISO 20345, but saves weight and creates no cold bridge to the toes. Together with the FAP midsole the shoe stays metal free, so it passes detectors and security gates without false alarms.
- A sole made for long shifts. The IMPULSE.FOAM midsole works in two densities and absorbs the impact that concrete floors otherwise send into knees and back. The MOTION IMPULSE rubber outsole is tested against 300 °C contact heat, resists oil and grips.
- Climate instead of heat build-up. Sandwich mesh with TPU reinforcement where the shoe takes the load, a BreathActive functional lining and the evercushion BA footbed that guides the foot through its natural roll. Anyone standing and walking for eight hours notices the difference at the end of the shift.
- Orthopaedic insoles covered. The supplier data sheet lists the model under DGUV 112-191 and the manufacturer marks it as DGUV certified. Staff with prescribed insoles therefore need no special arrangement, the marking inside the shoe remains decisive.

Areas of use
Electronics production and PCB assembly, test, measurement and repair benches, order picking and warehousing inside the EPA, assembly and maintenance in dry halls. The metal-free penetration protection also makes the shoe usable in workshops with nails and swarf on the floor. For permanently wet areas or outdoor work a model with a water repellent upper is the better fit.
Standards and conformity
- EN ISO 20345:2022, safety class S1PS, fibreglass toe cap and non-metallic penetration protection
- DIN EN 61340-5-1 for the ESD workplace. The shoe is one part of the system, the proof is the measurement of person, shoe and floor at the workplace below 100 megohms
- Antistatic footwear to EN ISO 20345 sits between 100 kilohms and 1000 megohms. That range alone is not ESD proof, it is the precondition for it
- DGUV 112-191 according to the supplier data sheet, suitable for orthopaedic insole fitting
- Outsole tested against 300 °C contact heat, oil resistant and slip resistant
