ESD safety low shoe SL 64 blue from ATLAS, listed to EN ISO 20345:2022 in class S2 SR, for electronics manufacturing, assembly and warehouse work. The alu-tec aluminium cap passes the 200 joule impact test, the waterproof smooth leather of around 2 mm keeps splash water out and the MPU INNOFLEX sole cushions through the whole shift. As an ESD version to DIN EN 61340-5-1 the resistance stays below 100 megohms, supplied in extra wide width 12 in sizes 36 to 49.

A test bench, a walk to the machine, a hand on the assembly: in between it is decided whether an electrostatic discharge costs a component. ATLAS lists the SL 64 blue under article number 49200 to EN ISO 20345:2022 in class S2 SR and explicitly as an ESD shoe to DIN EN 61340-5-1, meaning a resistance below 100 megohms in the person-shoe-floor measuring chain. Added to that is a waterproof smooth leather that copes with splash water and damp floors. Article 49212 offered here is exactly that version in extra wide width 12.

What sets this model apart

  • Charge dissipation to DIN EN 61340-5-1. ATLAS lists this model explicitly as ESD to DIN EN 61340-5-1 in its equipment list. What that guarantees is a resistance below 100 megohms in the person-shoe-floor measuring chain. That is the figure an EPA workstation is judged by, because the wearer charge drains through sole and floor covering in a controlled way instead of discharging into an assembly. EN ISO 20345 itself contains no ESD test, it only defines the wide antistatic band from 100 kilohms to 1,000 megohms and is not sufficient proof for an EPA.
  • S2 SR in plain words. S2 to EN ISO 20345:2022 requires everything S1 stands for, meaning the toe cap tested at 200 joules, the closed heel area, energy absorption in the heel and antistatic behaviour, plus an upper tested against water penetration and water absorption. SR marks slip resistance, which the 2022 edition tests as an additional requirement on tile with glycerine in place of the former codes SRA, SRB and SRC. Penetration resistance is not part of it. Where nails, swarf or staples lie on the floor, a class S3S model is the right call.
  • Waterproof smooth leather around 2 mm thick. ATLAS works exclusively with full-grain South American cowhide from tanneries that have passed the Leather Working Group audit. The waterproof smooth leather keeps water out for hours while staying breathable, durable and dimensionally stable. That is exactly what class S2 is about, tested resistance to water penetration and water absorption without turning the shoe into a rubber boot.
  • alu-tec aluminium toe cap instead of steel. The cap passes the 200 joule impact test that EN ISO 20345:2022 requires of every safety class from S1 upwards. Being anatomically shaped and light, it shifts the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot and works against tripping caused by imbalance. Aluminium behaves in a thermally neutral way and forms no cold bridge into the shoe interior.
  • MPU REBOUND SYSTEM and MPU INNOFLEX outsole. The cushioning rests on three parts: a pressure-relieving replaceable insole with an anatomical footbed and arch support, a comfort midsole of multifunctional polyurethane with three-zone full-surface damping in heel, midfoot and forefoot, and the foamed outsole system. The INNOFLEX system guides the force along the INNOFLEX LINE from heel to toe, the CLOUDZONE in the heel absorbs the impact and the large MPU tread areas return the energy into the next step. Anyone standing eight hours on concrete notices the difference at the end of the shift.
  • Fit and insole fitting. The model ships in width 12, the extra wide version from the ATLAS multi-width system. Inside works the aktiv-X functional lining, tested to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, abrasion resistant, skin friendly and made for lasting moisture regulation. ATLAS also lists the shoe as suitable for orthopaedic insole fitting to DGUV rule 112-191. Staff with a prescribed insole therefore need no special order, the marking inside the shoe remains decisive.

Areas of use

Electronics manufacturing and EPA workstations, test field and repair, assembly, goods receipt and warehouse. The waterproof smooth leather covers splash water and damp floors of the kind that come with hall cleaning or goods receipt. Where nails, swarf or packaging staples lie on the floor, choose a class S3S model with a penetration-resistant insert instead, at ATLAS the SL 605 XP for example.
