Anyone covering kilometres of shop floor in electronics production every day feels every extra gram on the foot. The FLASH 4005 XP ESD therefore uses a mesh upper and an alu-tec aluminium toe cap instead of steel, yet is still rated class S1PS SR to EN ISO 20345:2022 and protects the forefoot against 200 joules of impact and 15 kN of compression. The metal-free XP midsole stops nails without forming a cold bridge under the foot.
What sets this model apart
- Charge dissipation first. ATLAS labels the shoe explicitly as an ESD version to DIN EN 61340-5-1 and guarantees a person-shoe-floor resistance below 100 megohms. The footwear standard itself only defines the antistatic band from 100 kilohms to 1000 megohms, so the ESD proof goes beyond it. In practice the wearer charge drains away in a controlled manner on the walk from the bench to the machine instead of building up on the body and destroying a component.
- S1PS SR in plain words. Under the 2022 edition S1 means a closed heel area, energy absorption in the heel, antistatic properties and a toe cap rated for 200 joules. The addition PS stands for a non-metallic penetration-resistant insert tested with the thin 3.0 mm nail, the harder of the two tests. SR means slip resistance is proven in addition on tile with glycerine, beyond the basic test on tile with detergent.
- Aluminium cap instead of steel. The alu-tec cap meets the same 200 joules and 15 kN as a steel cap, but weighs considerably less and conducts cold far worse. Aluminium is the same high-tech material aviation and car making have used for years.
- Penetration protection without metal. XP technology replaces the steel midsole with a high-tech textile containing aramid fibres. It stops sharp objects such as nails, stays extremely light and lets the natural torsion of the foot work.
- MPU REBOUND SYSTEM and INNOFLEX. In the sole complex ATLAS combines the MPU REBOUND SYSTEM for gentle, fatigue-free walking with the INNOFLEX outsole concept that supports the wearer in every phase of movement. Over an eight hour shift of standing and walking that is what decides how the evening feels.
- Mesh, aktiv-X and clima-stream. The high-tech mesh wraps the foot precisely and lets air through, the aktiv-X functional lining regulates moisture actively and dries quickly, and the clima-stream concept balances humidity and temperature inside the shoe.
- Multi-width system. ATLAS already builds the standard width 10 on a broad, foot-friendly last. The same shoe is also available in width 12 and in the special widths 13 and 14, so that strong feet are fitted without pressure points.
- Approved for orthopaedic insoles. ATLAS lists the model as suitable for insole supply to DGUV rule 112-191. Staff with a prescribed insole therefore need no special purchase, the marking inside the shoe is decisive.
