ESD safety low shoe SL 845 XP blue S3S SR, width 13, waterproof leather - Atlas 65213

On an electronics line, foot protection comes down to two questions: does the shoe drain the wearer's charge in a controlled way, and does it still feel right after eight hours. The SL 845 XP blue is declared an ESD shoe to DIN EN 61340-5-1 and stays below 100 MOhm in the person-shoe-floor system. It is built in special width 13, for feet that the standard width 10 presses at the ball and instep.

What the shoe does on the shop floor

• ESD shoe to DIN EN 61340-5-1. In the person-shoe-floor system the resistance stays below 100 MOhm, so the wearer's charge drains off in a controlled way instead of discharging into a component.
• Special width 13 instead of standard width 10. The last is cut wider, length and protection class stay the same.
• Aluminium toe cap (alu-tec), tested to EN ISO 20345 for 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression. Aluminium weighs less than steel and forms no cold bridge across the forefoot.
• Metal-free XP penetration-resistant insert made from aramid fabric. It covers the full sole area, weighs less than a steel midsole and leaves the foot its natural torsion.
• Waterproof leather upper, full-grain cowhide that keeps the foot dry for hours and holds its shape.
• MPU REBOUND SYSTEM in the sole. It absorbs impact energy at the heel and returns it into the roll-off, which is what counts across eight hours of standing and walking.

Standards and conformity

Class S3S to EN ISO 20345:2022 means, in plain words: closed heel area, antistatic build, energy absorption in the heel, water-repellent upper, cleated outsole and penetration resistance. The trailing S marks the metal-free penetration-resistant insert, tested with the 3.0 mm nail. SR stands for slip resistance on ceramic with glycerine. For the ESD workplace, DIN EN 61340-5-1 is the governing standard. It measures the person-shoe-floor system, and the value has to stay below 100 MOhm. At the lower end the shoe standard caps the resistance at 0.1 MOhm so that the shoe still insulates during work up to 230 V. The antistatic range of the shoe standard itself runs from 0.1 MOhm to 1,000 MOhm.

The shoe is personal protective equipment of category II under PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425. The model is approved for orthopaedic insoles to DGUV rule 112-191, the marking inside the shoe is what counts. The EU declaration of conformity is provided by the manufacturer ATLAS-Schuhfabrik in Dortmund.
