Safety shoes tend to come off at the end of the shift, sneakers do not. The A 420 comes from the Atlas Sneaker Line and is built for light, flexible walking, yet it meets safety class S1 to EN ISO 20345 with a closed heel area, antistatic properties and the 200 joule toe cap. Atlas holds resistance below 100 MOhm by the person shoe floor method to DIN EN 61340-5-1.
What the shoe delivers
- S1 in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic construction, energy absorption in the heel and a toe cap rated 200 joules of impact and 15 kN of compression. No water repellent upper, no penetration barrier. On dry indoor floors that is exactly the lightest option available.
- Charge dissipation to DIN EN 61340-5-1. The shoe ties the wearer into the personnel grounding of the EPA. Atlas guarantees a resistance of less than 100 MOhm measured by the person shoe floor method. The plain antistatic requirement of EN ISO 20345 allows anything between 0.1 MOhm and 1000 MOhm. Component protection depends on the tighter figure, because only that prevents a discharge when someone picks up an assembly.
- Toe cap rated 200 joules. Every safety class from S1 upwards requires a cap that withstands at least 200 joules of impact and 15 kN of compression to EN ISO 20345, roughly 20 kilograms falling from one metre. The cap is anatomically shaped and does not crowd the toe box.
- Sneaker sole technology with MPU REBOUND. The Atlas Sneaker Line is built for light and flexible walking rather than maximum ruggedness. Combined with the MPU REBOUND SYSTEM the cushioning behaves more like a sports shoe than a traditional work shoe, which is why it stays on after the shift.
- Sportline upper and aktiv-X functional lining. The Sportline fabric is built from textile fibres, is highly air permeable and breathes well. The aktiv-X lining regulates moisture actively, does not stain, is kind to the skin and resists abrasion. In heated production halls that is what decides the eighth hour of a shift.
- clima-stream concept and orthopaedic insoles. The Atlas clima-stream concept maximises breathability, balances moisture inside the shoe and regulates temperature. The shoe is built on standard width 10, which Atlas deliberately lasts broad and foot friendly, and is approved for orthopaedic insoles under DGUV rule 112-191.

Areas of use
Electronics production and test benches, laboratories, assembly, order picking and service work on dry floors. Class S1 brings neither a water repellent upper nor a penetration barrier, in exchange the shoe is noticeably lighter than an S3 model.
Standards and conformity
- EN ISO 20345, safety class S1. Toe cap, tested to 200 joules of impact and 15 kN of compression.
- DIN EN 61340-5-1, ESD compliant. Resistance measured by the person shoe floor method is less than 100 MOhm. The antistatic requirement of EN ISO 20345 is wider, between 0.1 MOhm and 1000 MOhm.
- PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425, risk category 2.
- DGUV rule 112-191, suitable for orthopaedic insoles. The marking inside the shoe is what counts.
