Service and maintenance work does not stop at the factory gate. The GTX 565 XP blueline combines an ESD resistance below 100 MOhm to DIN EN 61340-5-1 with a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane and an outdoor outsole whose coarse lugs bite 4.5 mm deep. The steel toe cap is rated for 200 joules of impact and 15 kN of compression, and the penetration resistance is metal-free aramid textile.

What the shoe delivers

  • The charge leaves through the shoe, not through the component. Measured by the person shoe floor method of DIN EN 61340-5-1, the electrical resistance stays below 100 MOhm. A wearer who picks up a charge on the way to the machine passes it to the floor through the sole instead of discharging it into the assembly. The lower limit of 100 kOhm from DGUV rule 112-191 is maintained, so the limited protection against dangerous electric shock when working up to 230 V is not lost.
  • Protection class S3 in plain words. S3 to EN ISO 20345 means a closed heel area that absorbs energy, an antistatic build, a water-repellent upper, penetration resistance and a cleated outsole. The SRC slip rating covers both tests of the standard, ceramic tile with detergent and steel with glycerol.
  • Waterproof and still breathable. The GORE-TEX functional lining reliably keeps moisture out and lets foot heat and perspiration escape. Above it sits full-grain waterproof smooth leather of roughly 2 mm thickness that stays tight for hours and holds its shape. The difference to a merely impregnated shoe shows after the second hour in the rain.
  • Grip on wet and loose ground. The outdoor sole technology uses individual tread blocks for full-surface ground contact and a coarse lug profile 4.5 mm deep. An integrated torsion element keeps the sole elastic during quick lateral movements. That clearly lowers the risk of slipping on wet ramps, gravel and grass.
  • Toe and penetration protection. The anatomically shaped steel cap absorbs an impact of at least 200 joules and a compression load of at least 15 kN. The XP insert is a high-tech textile with aramid fibres, stays metal-free and extremely light and allows the natural torsion of the foot.
  • blueline means certified orthopaedic modifications are allowed. ATLAS models marked blueline are not only suitable for orthopaedic insoles but are also approved under DGUV rule 112-191 for certified orthopaedic modifications such as sole and heel elevation. The type examination was carried out by TÜV Rheinland, the fitting is done by an orthopaedic shoemaker.
  • Special width 13. Width 13 belongs to the special widths of the ATLAS multi-width system and sits between the extra wide width 12 and width 14. Equipment, sole and protection level match the standard version, the shoe is simply built on a wider last.

Areas of use

Maintenance and field service indoors and outdoors, plant and machine construction, electronics manufacturing and EPA zones to DIN EN 61340-5-1, warehouses with loading ramps and yard traffic, assembly work on construction sites and open ground, and work in rain and cold. The shoe covers the switch between ESD workplace and outdoor job with a single pair.

Standards and conformity

The supplier datasheet lists the shoe as S3 with SRC slip resistance to EN ISO 20345:2012. As personal protective equipment it falls under risk category 2 of PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425. ESD suitability is not a requirement of the footwear standard but follows DIN EN 61340-5-1.

EN ISO 20345 requires an electrical resistance between 100 kOhm and 1000 MOhm for every safety shoe. ESD shoes narrow that window at the top to 100 MOhm and thereby protect the product during manufacturing. Under DGUV rule 112-191 orthopaedic insoles and modifications may only be fitted with a valid type examination so that the shoe still complies with EN ISO 20345.
