A titanium disc represents a greatly shortened sonotrode. The ultrasound emitting surface is subject to wear due to cavitation erosion with every design. However, the replacement of a titanium disc can be done at a much lower cost than with long sonotrodes due to the low material cost. The titanium discs are used for medium volume sonication.
