Electronics production often needs no toe protection at all, but it does need a shoe that reliably drains the wearer's charge and stays light through an eight hour shift. That is what the QO 500 ESD is built for. It is an occupational shoe of class O2 to EN ISO 20347:2012, weighs 948 g per pair according to the manufacturer and works over a replaceable cork microfibre footbed.

What sets this model apart

• Class O2 to EN ISO 20347:2012 means a closed heel area, antistatic construction, an energy absorbing heel (E) and a water repellent upper (WRU). There is deliberately no toe cap, this model is an occupational shoe and not a safety shoe.
• ESD compliant construction with the A marking. DIN EN 61340-5-1 calls for the person, shoe and floor chain to stay below 100 MOhm in an ESD protected area. The charge drains on the way to the line, not only at the bench.
• Without a steel cap and without a puncture resistant midsole the pair stays at 948 g. Anyone standing and walking all day feels that difference against an S3 safety shoe.
• Replaceable, anatomically shaped cork microfibre footbed with heel cup, longitudinal arch supports and metatarsal support. The footbed is replaced on its own when worn, and a personal orthotic insert has room.
• Nitrile rubber outsole, slip resistant to SRC, resistant to oil and petrol (FO), with energy absorption in the heel area.
• Water repellent smooth leather upper, microfibre insole, six hole lacing, colour black.

Where it is used

Placement, test benches and final assembly in electronics manufacturing, high frequency work, laboratory, clean areas and order picking inside the ESD protected area. Where falling parts, nails or swarf are to be expected, specify an S3 safety shoe instead, for example the closely related QS 500 ESD.
