Conductive ESD Box without Foam Lining, Internal Sizes from 35 x 35 x 11 mm to 230 x 128 x 40 mm - Desco

Populated boards, ICs and loose components need packaging between workstation, stores and customer that protects them mechanically and does not build up charge. The Desco boxes in this range are made of black conductive polypropylene at 1 x 10² to < 1 x 10⁵ ohms per IEC 61340-2-3 and cover internal sizes from 35 x 35 x 11 mm to 230 x 128 x 40 mm. It is supplied without foam, for parts that need no retention or for a custom insert of your own. Choose the internal size to suit the part.

Key benefits

• Conductive material at 1 x 10² to < 1 x 10⁵ ohms: the boxes do not build up charge and shield their contents from external discharges.
• Supplied empty: the full internal volume is usable and can be fitted with your own conductive foam or inserts.
• Captive lid, either moulded in one piece or on a two-piece pin hinge depending on size, with a snap closure on every size.
• Size tolerance of ± 0.8 mm on the internal dimensions, so the boxes fit predictably in drawers and racks.
• ESD protective symbol moulded in, permanently identifying the box as ESD packaging.

Applications

Transport and storage of ICs, sensors, connectors and flat assemblies inside the EPA, between protected areas, in field service and when shipping to customers, as IEC 61340-5-1 requires for ESD packaging.

Standards

The boxes meet EN 61340-5-1 and the packaging standard IEC 61340-5-3, which requires conductive packaging to have a surface resistance below 1 x 10⁴ ohms. Testing is per IEC 61340-2-3.
