A standard nozzle cannot reach solder balls, wire clippings and dust between densely populated components. The needle nose nozzle tapers from 32 mm at the hose end to 3 mm at the tip and concentrates the airflow on a small spot, so PCBs and tight areas can be cleaned precisely.

The nozzle is static dissipative, which prevents static build-up. The 497 series ESD vacuums are designed for use in an EPA. Hose and accessories are conductive or dissipative, and charges drain through the grounding conductor of the power cord when the unit runs from a grounded outlet.
