Dry Soldering Tip Cleaner, Metal Wool, 10-Pack - Ersa 0008M/10

The ERSA dry cleaner made of metal wool comes in a practical pack of 10. When soldering with lead-free solder, oxide builds up on the tip and can quickly form a black, non-wettable barrier layer. The special spiral wool of the ERSA dry sponges reliably removes these deposited passive layers and extends the service life of the soldering tip.

Suitable for the holder stands 0A50, 0A52, 0A54 and 0A56 as well as for the dry-cleaner mount 0A08M.

Why is the dry sponge better than a conventional viscose sponge? Viscose sponges are moistened for cleaning. Modern soldering tips consist of several metal layers that expand at different rates during the thermal shock against a damp sponge, which can cause micro-cracks on the surface. This increases wear, especially when soldering lead-free. Because no thermal shock occurs with the dry sponge, it is the gentler solution.
