Valves and valve systems according to standard

Valves

Standard valves to ISO 15407-1, ISO 5599-1, and ISO 5599-2 define internationally uniform port dimensions for directional control valves in sizes 1 through 4. Aventics provides complete valve series and matching accessories for all three standards: sub-base plates, intermediate plates for separate air supply, end plates, and valve bodies without covers. The standards specify flange dimensions, bolt patterns, and port positions, allowing valves from different manufacturers to be fitted to the same sub-base provided the nominal size matches.

StandardSizesTypical Aventics seriesNotes
ISO 15407-11, 2CD02-ALSmaller nominal sizes, compact valve islands
ISO 5599-11, 2, 3, 4581, IS12, HV30Wide size range; full sub-base and end-plate programme
ISO 5599-21, 2, 3V261, V262Integrated electrical signal processing (series 2)

The standard governs the port geometry, not the internal valve function. The key selection parameters are: nominal size (determines port and flow), switching function (5/2 monostable, 5/3 mid-exhaust, 5/3 mid-pressure, etc.), and actuation type (24 VDC solenoid, manual, pneumatic). For systems with existing ISO sub-base plates, the nominal size is fixed by the plate bolt pattern. For new installations, ISO 5599-1 is the widest-supported standard, offering the most extensive valve and plate programme.

Typical applications: Machine and plant engineering where multi-manufacturer interchangeability of pneumatic valves is required; replacement and retrofit projects where existing sub-base plates are to be retained; export machinery where standard compliance simplifies worldwide spare-parts procurement; installations with multiple valve generations to be consolidated onto a common port standard.
