In electronics manufacturing the discharge path decides whether an assembly reaches the test bench intact. PUMA Safety declares the ELEVATE KNIT LOW as an ESD shoe. It carries the charge that builds up on the wearer while walking through footbed and outsole to the floor, before it can discharge into a component. DIN EN 61340-5-1 requires the person-shoe-floor system to stay below 100 MOhm. The purely antistatic classification in EN ISO 20345 only covers the band from 100 kOhm to 1 GOhm and is not by itself proof of ESD suitability.

The blue ELEVATE KNIT LOW is a light low shoe from the URBAN PROTECT line. The knitted SAFETY KNIT upper wraps the instep as you lace it instead of pressing along the edge of a leather cap.

What sets this model apart

• Safety class S1PS to EN ISO 20345:2022. S1 covers the closed heel region, antistatic properties, an energy absorbing heel and a fuel oil resistant outsole. The PS suffix marks a metal-free penetration resistant midsole tested with the 3.0 mm nail. The FAP insert covers the whole sole area rather than the narrower strip a steel midsole reaches.
• Fibreglass toe cap, tested to EN ISO 20345 at 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression. It weighs less than steel, does not conduct floor cold into the forefoot and keeps metal away from sensitive assemblies.
• URBAN rubber outsole with idCELL and a reinforced rotation point at the inner midfoot. That is where the foot pivots on every step, and the reinforcement takes friction out of the movement. The HRO marking documents resistance to 300 °C contact heat, FO stands for fuel oil resistance and SR for tested slip resistance.
• Fully metal-free construction. TPU protective elements at the toe cap and heel absorb the abrasion of kneeling assembly work without putting any metal part into the shoe. That keeps the shoe light and the wearer clear of metal detectors.
• Evercushion CUSTOM FIT MID footbed with a breathable BreathActive lining. Across an eight hour shift on your feet, medium arch support and a lining that moves moisture out matter more than any cushioning figure.

Electronics manufacturing and PCB assembly, test and repair benches, data centres and server rooms, cleanroom areas in semiconductor and medical technology, plus assembly and warehouse work in dry conditions. It is not intended for permanently wet workplaces, the upper is not tested for water penetration.

Standards and compliance

EN ISO 20345:2022 in safety class S1PS with the additional markings ESD, FO, HRO and SR. Personal protective equipment of risk category 2 under Regulation (EU) 2016/425, DGUV certified. Operating an EPA additionally falls under DIN EN 61340-5-1, which sets the 100 MOhm limit for the person-shoe-floor system and requires the shoe to be measured regularly while worn.
