Anyone moving between line, test bench and stores puts the work shoe on once in the morning and takes it off once at night. In between it should ask for nothing. The VELOCITY 2.0 LOW therefore closes with an elastic quick-lace cord system that tightens in seconds and leaves no loose ends. Underneath sits a class S3S safety shoe with a fibreglass toe cap rated for 200 joule impact energy, marked as an ESD version and DGUV certified.
What this model delivers on the floor
- The charge goes into the floor, not into the assembly. The manufacturer marks this model as an ESD version, which makes it one building block of a workplace to DIN EN 61340-5-1. That standard requires the person-shoe-floor system to stay below 100 megohm. EN ISO 20345 only asks an antistatic shoe for a value between 100 kilohm and 1000 megohm, so it is no ESD proof on its own. That gap decides whether an operator discharges into the assembly. The damage rarely shows at once, it shows as an early field failure.
- S3S in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic build, energy absorbing heel rated at 20 joule, water-repellent upper, cleated and fuel-oil resistant outsole plus a puncture resistant insert. The added S stands for the metal-free insert, tested with the small 3.0 millimetre nail rather than the coarse 4.5 millimetre one.
- Quick-lace instead of laces in the way. The elastic cord pulls the upper closed evenly, without pressure points across the instep, and cannot catch in a machine or under a rack wheel. For anyone who prefers conventional lacing, a spare pair of laces sits in the box.
- Fibreglass cap and FAP insert, entirely metal-free. The toe cap takes the 200 joule impact and 15 kilonewton compression required by EN ISO 20345, the flexible FAP insert covers the sole area against 1100 newton test force. With no metal built in, the shoe stays quiet at the detector gate and disturbs no sensitive measuring equipment.
- Up to 55 percent energy return. The MOTION IMPULSE rubber outsole withstands contact heat up to 300 degrees Celsius (HRO), resists fuel oil (FO) and passes the additional slip test (SR). Above it sits a twice-foamed IMPULSE.FOAM midsole in two densities that, according to the manufacturer, returns up to 55 percent of the impact energy to the wearer.
- Eight hours on your feet without paying for it in the evening. The Evercushion BA footbed supports the natural roll of the foot and the BreathActive functional lining moves moisture out. The anatomical shape with longitudinal arch support takes load off joints and ligaments across a full shift. The manufacturer size chart lists the men's range in width 11.

Applications
Electronics manufacturing and placement, test and measuring stations, repair and service, assembly, order picking and warehouse. The low cut leaves the ankle free to move, which counts during constant up and down at rack and workbench. Water-repellent leather and a cleated outsole also cover the walk across the yard.
Standards and conformity
PUMA SAFETY lists this model in class S3S with the additional marking ESD, FO, HRO and SR. The letter class S3S and the SR marking come from EN ISO 20345:2022, the edition that distinguishes puncture resistant inserts by design. The letter S denotes a metal-free insert tested with the small 3.0 millimetre nail at 1100 newton test force. The marking FO stands for the fuel-oil resistant outsole, HRO for contact heat resistance up to 300 degrees Celsius, SR for the additional slip resistance test and ESD for the dissipative build. Proof of ESD at the workplace still runs through DIN EN 61340-5-1 and the measurement in the person-shoe-floor system. The shoe is DGUV certified and falls under PPE risk category 2.
