The CX 56 grey from the Atlas City Style range is an ESD safety low shoe in class S1 that suits a business look rather than a shop floor. The steel toe cap meets the 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression required by EN ISO 20345, while the SportLine fabric and the clima-stream concept keep the foot dry across the shift. Inside an EPA, Atlas guarantees a resistance below 100 megohms to DIN EN 61340-5-1.

Test areas, quality assurance and inside sales need the same ESD protection as production, yet nobody wants to meet a customer looking like a steelworker. The CX 56 grey solves that with the City Style sole and a grey SportLine fabric that reads more sneaker than safety shoe. Protection stays by the book: class S1 to EN ISO 20345:2012 with a steel toe cap rated for 200 joules, plus the ESD build to DIN EN 61340-5-1.

What the shoe delivers in an EPA

  • Charge dissipation to DIN EN 61340-5-1. For its ESD marked models Atlas guarantees a resistance below 100 megohms, measured person to shoe to floor. The plain antistatic requirement of EN ISO 20345 allows anything between 0.1 and 1000 megohms. Anyone handling assemblies needs the tighter figure.
  • Safety class S1 in plain words. Closed seat region, antistatic construction, energy absorbing heel area and a protective toe cap. S1 is the class for dry indoor areas. Where nails or swarf lie on the floor, or wet conditions come into play, an S3 model such as the XP 435 2.0 under Atlas 35300 belongs in the shortlist.
  • Toe protection with a steel cap. The anatomically shaped cap is tested to EN ISO 20345:2012 for at least 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression. The shoe looks civilian and still protects to the same standard as a work boot.
  • SportLine fabric instead of leather. The textile is highly air permeable, water repellent thanks to its hydrophobic finish, quick drying and hard wearing. It weighs less than a leather upper and needs no polishing.
  • City Style sole with an 8 mm heel. The MPU midsole cushions the impact forces in the heel area and biomechanically placed flex grooves in the forefoot keep the roll natural. Slip resistance SRC, the top level of the classification in EN ISO 20345:2012, on hard industrial floors as well as on office parquet.
  • Climate inside the shoe and orthopaedic insoles. The clima-stream concept handles the air exchange, the aktiv-X functional lining regulates moisture actively, does not bleed colour and resists abrasion. The replaceable footbed with heel cushioning may be swapped for an orthopaedic insole under DGUV 112-191.
