On ground planes, terminal tabs and heavy cable the heat drains away faster than a narrow tip can supply it, the joint stays cold and the connection ends up porous. The TSS10B-10D answers with 10 mm of blade width at 3.5 mm blade thickness in the 300 W class.

What the geometry does

• Blade width of 10 mm spreads heat across the pad, tab or wire rather than concentrating it in one spot.
• Blade thickness of 3.5 mm, the heavier of the two 10 mm versions, the extra material buffers the heat drawn by massive workpieces.
• 300 W rating of the TSS10 range provides the power such a contact area demands.
• Tip and heater form one direct unit, on the TS10 about 3 seconds to 300 degrees Celsius are reached on a 1.6 mm tip.
• Temperature is sensed in the tip by a thermocouple, so recovery starts at once under continuous heat draw.
• Cartridge chip carries the individual calibration value, which keeps the station reading dependable exactly where large tip shapes make it hardest.

Application, scope of delivery and compatibility

Aimed at production, workshop, service and rework on thermally demanding assemblies, at large solder pads, cable lugs, tabs, connectors, sheet metal and boards with extensive copper areas, and at tinning larger contact faces. For small pads and delicate SMD joints the blade is too wide and narrower shapes in the series suit better. Supplied as a single cartridge tip without an iron, part of the TSS10 range for the QUICK TS10 station.
