Anyone moving between pads, through hole leads and connector contacts does not want to swap tips at every step. The 45 degree bevel on a 2.0 mm body gives an elliptical face of roughly 2.8 mm by calculation, large enough to hold solder and heat an area, small enough for a single pad, in the 200 W version of the TSS10 range.

What the geometry does

• At 2.0 mm it sits between the fine 1.0 mm bevel and the heavier 3.0 mm bevel, which often removes the need to change for the next operation.
• The wetted elliptical face takes up a bead of solder that carries through several contacts in a row.
• The 45 degree angle allows a flat approach to connectors and headers without losing sight of the joint.
• 200 W version for fine to medium heat demand with measured heat input.
• Tip and heater form one unit in the TSS10 range, on the Quick TS10 roughly 3 seconds to 300 °C are possible, reference is the 1.6 mm tip.
• Thermocouple inside the tip and a chip holding the calibration value keep the temperature reading comparable across tip changes.

Applications

Pads, tracks, through hole leads, connector contacts and comparable joints in workshop, service, assembly and rework. Very fine detail work is more accurate with the 1.0 mm bevel, high mass joints call for the 3.0 mm bevel or the 300 W versions of the range.
