On densely populated boards soldering rarely fails on temperature, it fails on the space around the joint. This cartridge is therefore built slim and carries a chisel 1.6 mm wide at only 1.0 mm thickness, which is 0.2 mm less blade than the heavier 1.6 mm variant of the range.

What the geometry does

• The slim body keeps the joint in view and lets the tip dip between neighbouring components.
• A 1.0 mm chisel thickness narrows the blade without giving up the 1.6 mm contact width, so the joint is still heated over an area.
• Less tip mass also means less stored heat, which limits what reaches heat sensitive parts nearby.
• 200 W version for fine to medium heat demand, laid out for controlled heat transfer.
• Tip and heater form one unit, on the Quick TS10 roughly 3 seconds to 300 °C are possible, measured on the 1.6 mm tip.
• Thermocouple inside the tip and a chip holding the calibration value keep the temperature reading comparable after every change.

Applications

Small to medium pads, through hole leads, finer cable work and smaller connector contacts, above all where component height and spacing decide whether the tip reaches the joint at all. High mass work is better served by wider chisels or the 300 W versions of the range.
