A classic through-hole joint holds heat in two places at once, the component pin and the pad ring on the board. This through-hole geometry covers both with a working face that leaves a 2.5 mm bore open and measures 6.0 mm on the outside, so lead and pad wet in one pass.

Why the shape is built for through-hole work

• The 2.5 mm bore accepts the component pin instead of pushing it aside.
• An outside diameter of 6.0 mm covers the pad and its surroundings, so heat spreads all around the hole rather than on one flank only.
• Because pin and pad reach temperature together, cold spots at the plated hole become less likely.
• Rated in the 200 W class, sized for pin headers and connectors with many contacts in a row.
• Tip and heater form one cartridge. Quick quotes roughly 3 seconds from room temperature to 300 °C for the range, measured on the 1.6 mm tip.
• Thermocouple in the tip and a chip holding the calibration value, so the station reading stays comparable after each change.

Application, scope of delivery and compatibility

Intended for leaded components, pin headers, connectors, cable terminations and solder eyelets in production, assembly, service and rework. For fine surface mount work a conical or narrow chisel shape from the TSS10 range makes more sense, since the ring face would cover too much of the surrounding area. The tip ships as a single cartridge and fits the Quick TS10 station only.
