In warm production halls ventilation often decides whether a safety shoe is still being worn after the third hour. This sandal from the uvex 2 trend line lets air reach the foot and at the same time drains the wearer's charge in a controlled way, the resistance of the person, shoe and floor chain stays below 100 MOhm under DIN EN 61340-5-1. Despite the open upper, toe cap, closed heel area and penetration resistant insert of class S1P remain fully in place.
What sets this model apart
- The shoe drains the wearer's electrostatic charge through footbed and sole into the floor. The governing standard is DIN EN 61340-5-1 for the ESD protected area. It assesses the chain of person, shoe and floor, and the resistance of that chain stays below 100 MOhm. Antistatic construction to EN ISO 20345 alone does not achieve this, it only covers the wide band from 10 to the power of 5 up to 10 to the power of 9 ohms and is no proof of ESD suitability. uvex states a discharge resistance of less than 100 megohm for its safety shoes.
- Safety class S1P means a closed heel area, antistatic construction, an energy absorbing heel region and additionally a penetration resistant insert. The letter P stands for a metallic insert, tested with the 4.5 mm nail. The toe cap meets the basic requirement of EN ISO 20345 and withstands 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression.
- The double hook and loop fastener can be adjusted separately at each strap. Anyone whose feet swell during the day or who wears an insole corrects the fit without relacing.
- The uvex anti-twist heel cap supports the heel laterally and works against twisting the ankle. On gratings, cable bridges and pallet edges that is the difference between a brief stumble and a torn ligament.
- The outsole is built from two density polyurethane. The soft intermediate layer takes the impact energy, the hard outer layer takes the abrasion. The result is a light construction that stays springy across the whole shift instead of wearing through after two months.
- The climate comfort footbed is replaceable and antistatic. It carries moisture away and adds cushioning under heel and forefoot. The Distance-Mesh lining keeps a gap to the upper and lets air circulate.
- The shoe is made from synthetic materials and therefore also suits wearers with a chromium allergy. The sole materials are free from silicones, plasticisers and other substances that impair paint wetting, which clears it for paint shops and the assembly lines next to them.

Applications
Warm production halls, assembly and test stations in electronics, warehouse and order picking, workshop and maintenance inside the EPA. The penetration resistant insert also covers areas where chips, nails or splinters lie on the floor. The open upper brings air to the foot but is nothing for areas with splashes, flying sparks or standing wet.
