On a production or maintenance floor, not everything that lies around belongs there. The XP 205 2.0 protects the toe area with an anatomically shaped steel cap against at least 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression to EN ISO 20345:2012, while draining the wearer charge, because ATLAS lists the article as an ESD shoe to DIN EN 61340-5-1.
What sets this model apart
- Charge leaves before it reaches the component. ATLAS points out that EN ISO 20345 only describes the antistatic range and contains no ESD test at all. For an EPA workstation to DIN EN 61340-5-1, a merely antistatic shoe is therefore not enough. This model is listed as an ESD shoe and guides the wearer charge through sole and dissipative floor instead of releasing it into the assembly.
- Protection class S1P in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic properties, energy-absorbing heel section and a fuel-resistant outsole. The P stands for penetration resistance against nails and metal debris on the floor. Slip resistance SRC is the top level of the test scheme, verified on ceramic with detergent and on steel with glycerine.
- Steel cap plus MPU toe guard. The cap covers the required protection against 200 joules and 15 kN. Above it sits the abrasion-resistant MPU toe guard, which takes the wear that first appears at the toe during kneeling work. That noticeably extends the service life of the shoe.
- XP penetration resistance without metal. Instead of a steel midsole, ATLAS uses a high-tech textile containing aramid fibres. It is metal-free, extremely light and allows the natural torsion of the foot. The added safety therefore does not come at the cost of wearing comfort.
- MPU INNOFLEX System for cushioning. The outsole guides forces along the INNOFLEX LINE from heel to toe. The CLOUDZONE in the heel absorbs impact forces, the DYNAMIC PLATES in the forefoot return energy into the next step and the flex grooves support the roll-off. Eight hours on a shop floor make the difference noticeable.
- Width 10 is already the wide fit. ATLAS builds even the standard width 10 on a broad, foot-friendly last. Wearers who need more room stay with the same model and move to the extra widths instead of ordering a size up and losing heel hold.
The aktiv-X functional lining regulates moisture inside the shoe, does not stain and resists abrasion. Together with the breathable SportLine textile fabric and the Klima Komfort insole it forms the ATLAS clima-stream concept. The shoe is approved for orthopaedic insoles under DGUV rule 112-191, with type examinations carried out by TÜV Rheinland.

Areas of use
Placement and soldering in electronics manufacturing, test field and repair, assembly work, goods receiving and warehouse areas inside the EPA. Penetration resistance also makes the shoe usable in workshop and maintenance areas where wire offcuts and chips end up on the floor. For permanently wet areas a waterproof S3 model is the right choice.
Standards and conformity
- EN ISO 20345, protection class S1P with slip resistance SRC according to supplier data. ATLAS currently lists article 30500 as EN ISO 20345 S1P SRC.
- ESD to DIN EN 61340-5-1, declared by ATLAS for this article.
- PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425, risk category 2.
- Orthopaedic insoles under DGUV rule 112-191, type examination by TÜV Rheinland.
ATLAS lists the XP 205 as a discontinued model and names the FLASH 2405 as its successor. For repeat orders in a department already equipped with it, this article remains the matching choice, while a new rollout is worth planning around the successor.
